Truth Bomb by OVD : Covid-19

 Hey everyone,

  This episode we will look at the reality of Covid-19, what should have been done, what was done and were we are at in reality with this pandemic. 

  The first thing everyone should know is there is a playbook for every possible crisis including Pandemics. Every country has one. The are standard responses until more information is discovered. the Pandemic playbook goes like this (every country has slight differences, this is the basics)

1) Shut down all borders. National, state and regional. All Pandemics spread as humans move around. This needs to be stopped as much as possible. Anyone entering the country must go through testing and a quarantine( for Covid-19 15 days)  

2) Set up a food and water distribution system to keep your people alive during the test and release stage. 

3) Quarantine. Everyone goes home and awaits testing. Everyone will be given a government UBI and all rents and mortgages are stopped/frozen. All interest frozen until the country is cleared and reopened fully.   

4) Test and Release. Figure out the best test (accuracy, availability are the main considerations). Have your response personnel (Medical staff, Military, first responders etc) tested first. Once cleared they start testing the population starting with crucial workers such as food producers, government officials, transportation (Truckers, cargo pilots, train engineers), Super market workers, infrastructure controls (power grid, water plants, road repair crews etc). Continue this course until everyone is tested. This shouldn't take more than a month or two. 

Once tested and cleared they can go back to work with precautions (Masks, face shields etc) 

5) All unwilling to test or use precautions are quarantined until they do. 

6) Once your population is tested and released you can adjust safety precautions accordingly or eliminate them as they are no longer needed. State and regional borders can be reopened too.

7) Maintain National border test and quarantine system until the world has beaten the Pandemic.

8) Any new cases should trigger local quarantine and testing of the area infected. 

9) Vaccines. as soon as safe vaccines are approved they should be distributed for free. In order to gain "Herd immunity" you must vaccinate at least 80% of the population. Vaccinate your nation then start helping vaccinate the world. Pandemics don't recognize borders. 

So that's the basic playbook for any pandemic. Some Nations followed it 100% like New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, and had very few deaths and infections. Others like the United States, Brazil and India did not and hundreds of thousands died and are still dying(the numbers are lower but that's mostly because of vaccines saving the vaccinated...the virus continues to spread...and evolve.

Variants : So Covid-19 is a virus. Viruses like most life forms evolve to survive. These variants can spread the virus faster and can get much deadlier. the Covid-19 D variant is an example of that. it's 80% more transmissive and deadlier. If we allow this virus to continue spreading it's will evolve even deadlier strains that may even be resistant to our vaccines. this is why vaccines must be given world wide...to kill/stop the virus before it mutates.  

The enemy is a Virus but also science deniers, anti-vaccers and fake "freedom" folks. Who will help spread the virus and help it evolve. We need to fight this with everything we got. So how do we deal with the science deniers. This is a tough question as we aren't an authoritarian regime. our goal is to save humanity and lives...not lock people up. Education and peer pressure are two tools we have. This blog entry is an example of the former. The more people know and understand the better chances  we have of beating this or any other Pandemic. As an individual you can pressure your family members and friends to get tested and vaccinated. as an employer you can make it mandatory for all workers in your business. You can use social media to spread information and to pressure folks(nicely). Things like posting a former science denier fighting the virus. Bragging about being vaccinated and how that is truly the most patriotic thing someone can do now(you are literally saving lives). Ostracizing them can be a tool here to. Not allowing unvaccinated people to your house, party, BBQ or business will pressure some to get vaccinated just to have a life again. If we fail to convince them, many will die or worse...spread new variants. Also be aware if you are vaccinated you can still spread the virus so being around unvaccinated folks you might "accidently" kill them.
